ACTIVE had two key meetings in mid April, 2010. On April 14th and 15th the project held its second year review, with leading experts Gregoris Mentzas (National Technical University of Athens), Peter Mika (Yahoo! Research) and Valentina Presutti (IST-CNR, Rome). Then on April 16th there was a combined meeting of its Scientific Advisory and Impact Creation Boards. Specially chosen experts from around the world gave project members their advice, both on the technical direction the project should take in its remaining third year, and also on how its work can best be exploited, now and after the project's end. The meetings confirmed that, whilst there is much still to do, the project is on track for a successful outcome. Both meetings were hosted by the Jozef Stefan Institute in the city of Ljubljana in Slovenia.
