ACTIVE in San Francisco

30.06.10 - 10:10

ACTIVE researchers had a very strong presence at SemTech 2010, the major industrial conference for practitioners and researchers interested in semantic technologies.  The conference, held in San Francisco during the last week of June, included presentations from John Davies (BT) and Paul Warren (Eurescom), on the ACTIVE project and its application in the BT case study, and from Elena Simperl (KIT) on estimating the costs and benefits of knowledge structures, one of the key research topics in ACTIVE.  Denny Vrandecic (KIT) contributed to a tutorial on semantic wikis - another key area of research in ACTIVE.  In addition, although not directly related to ACTIVE, Jesus Contreras and Francesco Carbone, from project partner iSOCO, took part in a presentation on the industrial deployment of semantic technologies for knowledge management.  The conference attracted around 1100 attendees - a strong testament to the continuing interest in semantic technologies.
